What's An IP Address?
An IP address is a unique numerical identifier assigned to every device connected to the Internet. It stands for "Internet Protocol Address" and it allows devices to communicate with each other on the Internet.
An IP address is a series of numbers separated by periods, for example, 192.168.0.1. There are two types of IP addresses: IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) and IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6). IPv4 addresses consist of 32 bits and are written in decimal format, while IPv6 addresses consist of 128 bits and are written in hexadecimal format.
IP addresses are used to route data packets from one device to another on the Internet. When you type a website URL into your web browser, your computer sends a request to the website's IP address and then receives a response back.
Similarly, when you send an email or connect to a remote server, your device uses IP addresses to establish and maintain the connection.
