What Is Path Forwarding?

Path Forwarding is an invaluable feature that simplifies redirecting not just another domain but also all associated paths to a specific website. When you redirect a domain to a new URL, there may be a page on the old site that the browser types in directly.

Let’s say www.example.com forwards to www.newExample.com.

With Path Forwarding set, a call to "www.example.com/Hello" will redirect to "www.newExample.com/Hello".

Without Path Forwarding, “http://www.newexample.com/Hello” would return an error.

How To Set A Forward Path

To set the Forward Path on your domain:

  1. Once you are logged in, navigate to My Domains or My Categories.

  2. Select a domain or category.

  3. Within the URL Forwarding section, click Manage URL Forwarding.

  4. Click Set Up URL Forwarding.

  5. Enter the forwarding URL.

  6. Set Mask URL to Off.

  7. Select URL Redirect Type: 301 Redirect (Permanent) or a 302 Redirect (Temporary).

  8. Select Path Forwarding.

  9. Click Save.
